Student
programme- Adrian Dennis
At the student programme Adrian Dennis spoken, who
has won sport photographer of the year in 2012. I found his photos very
inspiring, and I like the way that he shot. One thing that I got form this talk
was not to give up when doing a shot, to try and try again. As this will help
my photography to progress. Also
it will help to look at shooting in a different way. He didn’t like to stand
with the other photographers who are most likely to get the same photos; he
liked going somewhere else to take the photos. Also that he like to research
where and who he is photographing before going to the event. This meant that he
knows what he was going to take and he might find out something about a
celebration or something. Dennis said that this helps him know when to take the
photos because he knows when to take the photos and knows when not to. It also
means that he won’t miss it because he knows it’s coming where other photographers won’t. Within Dennis’ photos you can
see that he try something different to the other photographers, it some you can
see the other photographer in the distance. Here is example of how you can see
the other photographers in the photos. I really like how Dennis doesn’t
standing with the other photographers and like standing somewhere else; this is
what will make him different to the other photographers. Also it means the
photo that he gets is different to all of the other photos that the other
photographer was taken.
At the talk I was influenced by Dennis and I wanted to try sport photography as I have never thought about looking at the genre of photography before. I went to a Liverpool game and thought that this was a great opportunity to take some photos. Before going
I research other photographers and looked at there work. Knowing that I was
going to be the stands and not by the pitch I was unsure about how my photos
would look. However I feel my photos show something different about the game because
I was in a different positions then the other photographers in the ground.

I really enjoyed taking these photos and look forward to looking at other projects that involve sports. Having looked back at my images, I wish that I could get close to get more detail within my image. For example being able to use a lower aperture to show the emotion of the players and to look at what they might be thinking. I feel that this project has given me a stepping stone, for me to be able to improve.
